Exhibition “RUST”. Oksana Fursa.
From May 15 to June 2 at the Taras Shevchenko National Museum, Ukrainian ambidextrous artist Oksana Fursa will present her personal exhibition “RZHA”. Oksana Fursa is a pearl of Ukrainian folk art and the owner of a unique counter smear technique. The artist creates her paintings with two hands at the same time.
The exhibition will present 20 picturesque canvases from the series “RUST REPRODUCTION”.
This is the fourth solo exhibition of the artist at the Taras Shevchenko National Museum. Recall that in 2022, the artist presented the exhibition-marathon “Between Heaven and Earth”.
“This exhibition is very significant for me as an artist and a person who acutely feels the pain of our Earth throughout the war. My first war exhibition opened on July 5, 22. It was in the Taras Shevchenko National Museum, which was the first to open the exhibition season during the war in Ukraine. Then I gave myself instructions that my next exhibition in this museum would mark the end of the war. Right now I feel the need to show the society a retrospective of my creative pursuits, which recorded on canvas all the historical and symbolic events of the war in Ukraine. Somewhere with pain, somewhere with irony and grotesque” — says Oksana Fursa — “This is my creative story. I painted during the war like I had never painted before. And this is not only about the record number of works in two years, but also about the radical change in my authoring technique, which was born during the creation of the RUST collection.”
“RUST” is an allegory for the destruction of weapons. Rust — through which we all sprout and reproduce, in bright colors, like a new Nation. Rust — that during war eats our souls with fear, uncertainty! Rust is eating away at our future.
The opening of the personal exhibition of painting “IRZHA” will be held on May 15 at 16.00 at the Taras Shevchenko National Museum.
Entrance to the opening by personal invitation.
You can visit the exhibition from May 16 to June 2, 2024 with a ticket to the museum.
