The Museum of the History of the Battle of Korsun-Shevchenko is part of the Korsun-Shevchenko State Historical and Cultural Reserve. It is located in the Lopukhin Palace — an elegant building that resembles a fortress with four towers, and also has an interesting history. This is a place where you can discover several eras at once — from the time when the house belonged to the Polish King Poniatowski, to the period of its ownership by Prince Lopukhin and the period when the house was at the center of the events of the Battle of Korsun-Shevchenko during the Second World War, about which a rich collection tells Museum.
The Lopukhinj Palace, which today houses the Museum of the History of the Battle of Korsun-Shevchenko, was built in 1782 as a summer residence for the last Polish king, Stanisław Poniatowski. However, 17 years after the start of the work, which collectively lasted almost 100 years, the estate was bought by the Russian prince Petro Lopukhin. The palace was one of the first estates on the lands of the People's Republic of Poland in the Neo-Gothic style, but the original architectural design with the change of owner of the building underwent some adjustment. By order of Lopukhin, he was given the features of Russian romanticism with elements of classicism. It is in this form that it has reached our days. In the palace during the years of its owner's life, one of the richest collections of art, painting and earthenware of that time was kept in the Russian Empire. And the palace itself at the end of the 19th century was called among the most beautiful and richest Russian estates. Its lush and rich appearance, which is impressive at first sight, it has not lost until today. Since 1945, the palace has housed the collections of the Museum of the History of the Korsun-Shevchenko Battle.
