The idea of starting and opening the Shymanovsky Museum belongs to the musicologist Olga Levtonova. The Museum of Musical Culture named after Karol Shymanovsky was created in 1991. The founder of the museum is the Kropyvnytsky City Council. The basis for the creation of the museum was the museum room K. Shymanovsky at the Kropyvnytskyi Professional Music College.
