Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Local Lore

Regional Museum of Local Lore in the city of Chernivtsi, the largest collection of materials and documents on the history, ethnography and culture of Northern Bukovina and Khotyn region. The Chernivtsi Museum of Local Lore has many halls (approx. 20), which are part of two large departments: nature of Bukovina and history. The combination of nature with ancient history provides an opportunity for a holistic view of the museum exposition. The historical department, which is several times larger than the natural one, also includes significant archaeological and ethnographic collections, documents, materials and numerous objects from the history of Bukovina. Rich and interesting is its numismatic collection, the collection of weapons of the XVIII — XIX centuries.The pride of the museum is the collection of works of fine and decorative arts, the basis of which are icons of the XVI — XVIII centuries, works of outstanding Bukovyna artists Mykola Ivasyuk, Yustyn Piguliak, Yevgeny Maksimovich, Augusta Kokhanovskaya, etc. The collection of old prints is represented by books of three prominent printing centers of Ukraine — Kyiv, Lviv and Pochaev.
