Chernihiv Regional Historical Museum named after Vasily Tarnovsky

Historical Museum — located in the architectural monument of the early 19th century on Muzeynaya Street, 4. The exposition, created according to the chronological principle, tells about the history of Chernihiv region from Paleolithic times to the present, about its outstanding natives and personalities associated with the region. Its constituent parts are permanent exhibitions “Family estates — centers of culture and charity”, “Natives of Chernihiv region — outstanding figures of science and culture of the twentieth century”, “Chernihiv at the turn of centuries”. Temporary exhibitions, built on both thematic and systematic principles, are exhibited in the exhibition hall or in the exhibition halls of the museum. The Military History Museum — is located in a adapted room, built in 1985,. The exposition has two separate sections — “Military history of Chernihiv region” and “Battle path of the former 1st Guards Army”, exhibitions — “Chernihiv on the fronts of World War II”, “Liberation of Chernihiv region from German-fascist invaders”. The exhibition hall is used to create exhibitions not only on military topics, but also on other topics, including artistic ones. The museum is equipped with technical equipment, has a cinema and lecture hall.
